Silicon Valley Community Grants FAQs
Q: Doesn't the Foundation have a competitive process through which my organization can apply for funding?
A: At this time we do not have a competitive proposal process. We are only funding Silicon Valley organizations through discretionary grants recommended personally by Steve and/or Michele Kirsch.
Q: What types of organizations will the Kirsches fund?
A: They fund organizations with which they are affiliated, either as members of the Board or through their personal activities with the organization.
Q: How can our organization apply to them for a discretionary Silicon Valley community grant?
A: Steve and Michele already have a number of organizational relationships and prefer to continue to fund these nonprofits in order to provide some financial stability for them during these tough times. As a result, it is not possible to request a discretionary grant from them unless your organization has established a personal relationship with either or both of them.
Q: Does the Foundation plan to re-institute a competitive Silicon Valley community grants process?
A: At this time the Foundation's assets make it financially impossible to re-institute a competitive Silicon Valley community grants process for the foreseeable future while maintaining our other focus areas.
Q: Where can I find information about all the types of grants your Foundation offers?
A: That information is available at: How to Apply for Grants.
Q: Do you have information on other Silicon Valley Community grants your Foundation has funded in the past? What about a complete list of all the grants awarded?
A: You can find a complete list of previous Silicon Valley Community grants at: Previous Silicon Valley Community Grants Awarded. A list of all Foundation grants can be found at Grants Awarded.
Q: Is publicity about your grant recipients available on the site?
A: You can review publicity about the Foundation and our grant recipients in Press Coverage. We also have Grant Recipient Success Stories.
Q: Where can I find all of the links in this web site related to Silicon Valley.
A: You can find those links at Local Support.
